Hello!

We’re so pleased that you found your way here, it’s lovely to have you!

We are Becks and Han, the sisters behind Dalou, home cooks, recipe developers, eaters, and food writers from Devon.

Dalou is all about eating with the flow of the seasons and getting creative with how we can limit our impact on the planet through food. Our recipes are largely veg-centric and heavily influenced by the wonderful produce we are lucky enough to have on our doorstep (some even homegrown!). It’s always our goal to put fresh seasonal flavours at the centre of the table whilst being mindful about food waste in everything we do.

We wanted to create recipe cards to keep and love that look as wonderful as the dishes taste. Whether you’re building a cookbook full of your favourite recipes, delighting your customers with fresh and exciting ways to cook, or giving your wedding guests a gift to cherish, we hope these recipes will bring people joy that they can keep coming back to.

A bit more about us…

Becks

The eldest of the two, Becks was recently diagnosed with silent coeliac, a trickster of a disease that all too often flies under the radar. She is still very much in the learning stage of living with coeliac, but we’ve not hung around in testing lots of recipes to make sure she can still eat the food she loves. Becks’ cooking is the more classic of the two, with a special love for baking and simplicity when it comes to flavour and technique. When not in the kitchen, she can be found out and about on a long walk with her dog, Maisie.

Han

Han is the younger of the two and a pescatarian of about eight years. If Becks is the more classic cook, Han is the experimentalist. Always looking to try new flavours and combinations, or the next interesting technique to cook a vegetable, Han is responsible for the wide variety of ingredients you’ll find in our recipes. If she’s not got her head in a cookbook it’ll be in a history book instead, reading about social or global food histories and recipes through time. She is also interested in learning more about foraging, to better understand and make use of the wild food right on our Devon doorstep.
